Increasing Your Company’s Social Media Interaction

Increasing Your Company’s Social Media Interaction

When you use social media as a marketing tool for your business, what is the purpose? Are you simply seeking to get your product name out there, or are you interested in using social media as a platform to improve your business, drawing in customers and increasing their familiarity with your name, your products, and what your business stands for? One of the most valuable things you can do with your social media accounts is develop strategies to use them for interaction with your customers–not just posting yourself, but engaging in active conversations, listening to customer feedback, and learning more about what’s important to your customers.

Offer questions for discussion. Do you want to know how many people your posts are really reaching? This isn’t just the number of people who actually see your post. It’s the number of people who have actual involvement with your post: the ones who take the time to read it, interact with it, and respond to it. One of the best ways to understand how many people you’re really reaching is to ask questions in your social media posts.

Ideally, you don’t want just simple questions. An ice cream shop, for example, could get some quick responses from a question like, “What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?” It will give you a quick gauge of who is reading your posts, but it won’t truly engage your customers. Those responses, however, aren’t going to create deep engagement from your customers and fans. Instead, try a question like, “What is your favorite memory that includes ice cream?” or “The flavors of the holidays are here! What special memories do flavors like peppermint or gingerbread bring up for you?” You’ll get much more in-depth answers and customers will automatically feel more engaged with your brand.

Interact More Often

Conversations and lectures are two very different things. In a conversation, both people have something to say. In a lecture, only one gets to have a voice. If you care what your customers have to say and take the time to engage with them, they’ll think more positively about your brand and become more loyal to your product. Respond to your customers’ answers. Don’t just post once and then let them guide their own discussion; take the time to get involved yourself.

Answer Questions

Are your social media accounts the best way to reach your company? Is your Facebook wall a great place for customers to ask questions, give feedback, and get help? If not, you’re not utilizing your social media accounts to their fullest extent. Take the time to look over reviews and questions posted to your social media accounts, then answer your customers.

Have Contests

If you want to increase your social media exposure fast, a contest is one of the fastest ways to do it. Host a contest that utilizes as many social media platforms as possible. “Shares” and “Likes” on Facebook, Pinning certain products on Pinterest, and showing particular pictures on Instagram are all popular ways to increase customer interaction. Not only are they increasing your brand exposure, they’re having fun! At the same time, you’ll learn a lot about your customers. If you ask them to “pin” products that they’re interested in, for example, you’ll learn what products are really important to your customers. Pictures of customers using your products will show you some of their favorites. Get creative and have fun with it! You might be surprised by the results.

Increasing your social media presence and interaction with your customers is a vital part of increasing your company’s customer appreciation and exposure. Looking for more strategies to utilize your social media accounts more fully than before?
